Many years ago (1950/60s)there was a restaurant called La Fonda del Sol in New York City that served a chocolate candy cake to die for. The cake was a dense chocolate layer cake with chocolate shavings on the top. It was incredibly rich. I believe that the chef was Albert Kumin at the time. The restaurant was located in the Time/Life building. La Fonda del Sol served foods from Central and South America mainly, as I recall. I was a child then and cannot recall much else about the cake. I have searched for the recipe for many years. I am hoping that someone can help me. Thanks for any help you can give me!
