This is a old recipe from my Mom. Its very rich and creamy. She always served it with homemade chocolate sauce.
2 eggs, beaten 2 C. Milk 3/4 C. sugar l/8 tsp salt 1 TBSP vanilla 2 C. whipping cream
Combine eggs, milk and sugar in a large pan and cook over low until it begins to bubble-stirring constantly. Remove from heat and let cool. Add vanilla and whipping cream. Pour into a ice cream freezer and freeze following freezer directions.
Chocolate Sauce
1 l/2 C. (15oz.can Eagle Brand Milk) 2 squares unsweetened chocolate 1/8 tsp salt 1/2 to 1 C. hot water 1/2 tsp vanilla
Put milk, chocolate and salt in a double boiler. Cook over boiling water stirring constantly until thick, about 10 min. Remove from heat, add hot water, amount depending on the desired consistency. Cool and add vanilla.
