In Response To: ISO: Wienerschnitzel Chili (Chef Fred)
Chef Fred, I too have been searching for Der Wienerschnitzel's "secret" recipe for years! The closest I've come (and it's actually very close) is a tip I recieved from Pat last month on this website. She told me to get Stater Brothers (a grocery store chain) brand mild chille with no beans. reluctantly, I made the purchase, and to my surprise,
is was almost as if I had been to Der Wienerschnitzel. Use american cheese slices on the chille dogs, and grated sharp cheddar on the chille fries. (It makes a big difference) Also, use the softest hot dog buns you can find, and steam your hotdogs if possible. (another tip I acquired from this website) Good luck, and if you ever come across the actual recipe, remember I'm out here wanting it too! Dawn. P.S. If you don't have a Stater Brothers store in your area, try Albertson's store brand. They are almost identical in flavor

Even though Wienerschnitzel owns the rights to it, they do not have actual access to the recipe! If you cannot grind your own, see if you can have a butcher make an extra-fine grind for this recipe (inspired by The Varsity's chili), thus sparing you the embarrassment of topping wieners with a lumpy sauce.
