Hi Anita - here is a recipe from my British Good Houseekeeping Cookery Book:
Bread Sauce
2 cloves 1 medium onion, peeled 1 small bay leaf 2 cups milk 3 oz. fresh breadcrmbs salt and white pepper 1 TBL butter 2 TBL light cream
Stick the cloves into the onion and place in a heavy saucepan with the bay leaf and milk. Bring slowly to the boil, remove from the heat, cover and leave to infuse for 10 minutes, then remove onion and bay leaf.
Add breadcrumbs and seasoning, cover and simmer gently for 10-15 minutes, stirrying occasionally. Stir in butter and cream.
Serves 4
