Homemade Caramel Apples I am glad to share this recipe as my Mom made them for me, I made them every Halloween for my daughter (now grown) and her friends and to this day her friends will bring their little ones over to Trick or Treat so that they can still get their caramel apple and peanut butter popcorn ball.
1 cup white sugar 1/2 cup white corn syrup 1 can (15 oz.) sweetened condensed milk 1 tsp. vanilla
Put all ingredients in a heavy pan. Cook slowly stirring constantly until 230 deg. or until mixture dropped in cold water forms a stiff ball. Dip or roll apples on a stick in caramel mixture and set on a buttered dish. Spooning the caramel over the apple is sometimes helpful. You may dip them in crushed nuts if desired.
Note: apples MUST be clean, dry and at room temperature for the caramel to stick.
Good luck to your daughter!
