Here's five recipes from the archives, all pretty much the same - I've only eaten them but haven't made them myself - but maybe this weekend I'll try, I'm sure there's a box of crackers I need to get rid of!
Heath Bar Cookies
56 saltine crackers 1 cup butter 1 cup brown sugar 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 12 ounces milk chocolate chips 1 cup chopped nuts
Line a large cookie sheet with foil. Spray with cooking spray. Lay saltines to cover cookie sheet. Melt butter over medium heat, add brown sugar, bring to boil and boil for 1 minute only. Remove from heat and add baking soda. Spread mixture over crackers (make sure all crackers are covered with mixture). Bake for no longer than 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips -- spread the chocolate as it melts over all crackers. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. Let cool overnight or until set.Recipe: Poor Mans Toffee Newsgroup: alt.food Date: 12/06/1999 Author: Mary

2 pkg. saltines 2 sticks butter 1 cup brown sugar 1 package chocolate chips 1 cup chopped nuts
Layer saltines in single layer on a slightly greased cookie sheet. Melt butter and sugar. Pour over crackers, bake at 350' for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over crackers. let stand 5 minutes, the spread the chocolate evenly over the crackers. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and refrigerate 1 1/2 hours. Wonderfully easy recipe for those who like toffee, and chocolate:
Cracker Brittle:
1 C butter 1 C brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla choc chips saltine crackers chopped nuts (Optional) Cover cookie sheet with saltines. Cook over medium heat the butter, and sugar stirring until it boils. Let boil without stirring for 3 minutes. After the 3 minutes,remove from heat, add vanilla, and pour hot syrup over saltines, spreading as necessary. Preheat oven to 350, and put cookie sheet in oven for 5 minutes or until syrup bubbles. Remove from oven, and sprinkle to cover with chocolate chips. Let sit until chocolate melts, then spread out.. could add chopped nuts at this point if desired. Refrigerate, then break up into pieces. Enjoy!!!!

24 graham crackers 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 teasp. cinnamon 1/2 teasp. vanilla 1/2 c. chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350. Arrange crackers on a large cookie sheet, side by side. Heat sugar, spices and butter to boiling. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour evenly over the crackers and sprinkle with nuts. Bake 10 minutes. Let cool and break apart.
