Hi Bernard,

You can soften the crust on your bread or rolls by brushing the baked bread, while still warm, with melted butter.

Here is a roll recipe that is an old hand me down that is definately a compliment to any gourmet meal.

Soft Rolls
Recipe By : Mary Beauchamp's Grandmother
Serving Size: 36

1 pkg yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tsp salt
2 cups water, lukewarm
1 egg
7 cups all-purpose flour, sift before measuring
3 tbsp shortening or butter, melted

Put yeast into large mixing bowl, add sugar, salt and water. Add well beaten egg and add half of flour (be sure to sift it once before measuring) and beat well. Add melted shortening or butterand mix in remainder of flour. Let rise in double in bulk. Punch down and shape into rolls. Placed on greased pan and let rise untill double again. Bake in 350 - 375 degree oven until brown on top. Be sure to get your rolls first because when everybody take their first bite the rolls will disappear lickety split!
