Hi Beverley,

Bisquick is the brand name of a baking mix that already contains shortening (it's not just self-rising flour).

I found this recipe online:

Bisquick Substitute

8 Cups Flour
1 1/4 Cups Nonfat Dry Milk Powder
1/4 Cup Baking Powder
1 Tablespoon Salt
2 Cups Shortening

Combine flour, milk, baking powder, and salt in a very large bowl. Cut in shortening until it resembles coarse cornmeal. Store in tightly closed covered container in a cool place. Makes about 10 cups.

It can be used in any recipe that calls for Bisquick. If you need recipes or have other questions about Bisquick, General Mills/Betty Crocker, Bisquick's manufacturer, has a dedicated website: www.bisquick.com
