Linda,
I found this recipe on the McCormick Spices website. I have not made these. I hope these will do.
Paula

Anise Cookies

1/2 cup butter or margarine. softened
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. Anise Seed
1 egg

Place butter and sugar in large bowl and cream until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and mix well. Add baking powder and salt to sifted flour and sift again. Gradually add dry ingredients and anise seeds to butter mixture, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Shape dough into roll and wrap in wax paper. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 400. Lightly grease cookie sheets. Cut chilled dough into thin slices and place 1-inch apart on prepared cookie sheets. Bake 8 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from cookie sheets and place on wire racks to cool.
