This isn't pound cake, but it's the fastest, easiest version you'll ever find:

Prepare a yellow cake mix according to package directions (I prefer the 13" x 9" pan). Cool thoroughly in the pan. After cooling, poke holes in the cake with a fork or other implement. Try to get the holes all the way to the bottom, without splitting the top of the cake. A carving fork works pretty well.

Mix a package of gelatin dessert (such as Jello) with one cup of boiling water. Slowly pour the hot liquid over the cooled cake, making sure to get it over the entire top of the cake.

Chill in the fridge for at least an hour. Perfect as is, or with whipped topping. Mmmm mmmm!
