I don't know if any of these recipes will give you the crackle you're looking for but you should have fun trying them out! - Betsy
Chocolate Cake Icing
8 tbsp. milk 4 tbsp. cocoa 1 stick (1/2 cup) margarine 1 tsp. vanilla 1 (1 lb) box powdered sugar 1 cup nuts (optional)
Cook milk, margarine and cocoa for 1 minute.
Add confectioners sugar and vanilla and beat until smooth and creamy. Pour over warm cake.
Lynn’s Chocolate Icing This is for 1 cup of chocolate glaze.
2 tbsp. Hershey's cocoa 1 tbsp. plus 2 tsp. water 1 tbsp. vegetable oil 1 tbsp. corn syrup 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
Cook and stir all ingredients except the confectioners' sugar over low heat until smooth.
Remove from heat. Beat in 10X sugar. Pour over cake and spread quickly. Dries to form a tasty, shiny surface.
Chocolate Frosting
2 cups granulated sugar 1/2 cup margarine 1/2 cup milk 1 cup chocolate morsels 1 tsp. vanilla
Boil sugar, margarine and milk 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and add vanilla and chocolate morsels.
Stir until morsels are dissolved then pour over cake. Do not spread.
