CHERRIES AT SUNRISE
6 egg whites 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar 2 cups of sugar 2 cups(about 45) soda crackers (saltines) 3/4 cup of chopped nuts 2 tsp. vanilla 2 cups whipping cream ( coolwhip also works fine) 1 21oz. can of cherry pie filling
Preheat oven to 350, beat egg whites until frothy, add cream of tartar then gradually add sugar. Beat until stiff. Fold in crushed crackers, nuts and vanilla. Spread in a well buttered baking dish.
Bake at 350 for 25 mins. Cool on rack overnight. Spread on whip cream. Spoon pie filling over cream. Chill several hours before serving. whip cream over crust
