Mona, You're very welcome. It could be a French Cdn. recipe as the older French People made a lot of Pull Taffy and other candies using Vinegar and/or baking soda. Maple Syrup stuff also. Sounds like you have good background. I was born in Ontario but have been here since the age of 6. Quebec is home! A very UNIQUE place to live. It's like you're in another country! Adieu, Judy
