This is a recipe my Mom got from an older Italian lady:

Spaghetti Sauce

1/3 cup olive oil
1 small can tomato paste
1 can water from the tomato paste can
1 large can tomato puree
1/2 can water from the tomato puree can
3 large cloves, or more, of garlic, chopped
1 Tbsp. oregano
1 tbsp. basil
1 large bay leaf
1/4 cup dry red wine
1/2 cup parmesan cheese

Heat the olive oil in a large pot. Saute the garlic, but do not burn.

Add the tomato paste and saute very briefly.

Add the can of water. Add the tomato puree and 1/2 can of water. Then add the oregano, basil, 1 large bay leaf, and parmesan cheese. add the wine.

Bring to a slight boil and then turn to low and cook for 3 to 4 hours. until desired consistency. Serve over pasta of your choice.
