BARBECUED LAMB SHANK DINNER

BARBECUE SAUCE:
1/2 cup catsup
2 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/4 tsp. salt
Dash red pepper sauce
LAMB SHANK DINNER:
1/4 cup Gold Medal flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 lamb shanks
2 tbsp. shortening
1/4 cup water
4 medium potatoes, pared and sliced 1/2 inch thick
salt
1 (16 oz.) can whole green beans, drained

PREPARE BARBECUE SAUCE:
Combine ingredients in saucepan; heat over low heat 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Also delicious on hamburgers, chicken and family steaks.

LAMB SHANK DINNER:
Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix flour, 1 teaspoon salt and the pepper; coat meat with flour mixture.

Melt shortening in Dutch oven; brown meat. Drain off fat. Brush meat with barbecue sauce. Pour water into pan. Cover; bake 1 hour.

Brush meat again with barbecue sauce. Add potatoes and season with salt. Cover; bake 1 hour longer.

Brush remaining barbecue sauce on meat. Add beans; bake uncovered 30 minutes.

Servings: 4

Hi Trudy,

This isn't the exact recipe you're looking for but I think it's close to it - except it doesn't use an oven bag. I don't see any reason it couldn't be cooked in an oven bag if you want.

Happy Cooking!

Betsy
