PLUM KUCHEN
2 cups sliced fresh Michigan purple plums or 1 can (14 oz.) Michigan purple plums 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened 3/4 cup sugar 1 egg 3/4 cup milk 1 1/2 cups sifted flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 1-quart baking dish.
Pit fresh plums and set aside. If using canned plums, drain and reserve 1/2 cup syrup.
Beat together butter and 3/4 cup sugar, add egg and mix well.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Pour into prepared baking dish. Arrange plums on top. Pour reserved syrup or 1/2 cup water over plums.
Combine 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over plums.
Bake at 375 degrees F about 30 minutes.
