My high school in Washington State used to make "Zombies" they sold during our morning break. I've re-created them at home as an adult (my husband had never heard of them either) with some good success.

Take white bread dough and let it rise once.

Separate into balls just smaller than your fist and roll into flat circles like small pizzas. Put a chunk of cheddar cheese in the middle and fold up around it until it is back in ball shape. Turn over, poke a few small holes in the top to vent.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-15 minutes.

My school had a meat version of the zombie that included little smoked sausages (my husband's favorite). For the meat version, buy some Hickory Farms little poliskas and use 3-5 per roll and exchange a square of cheddar cheese with shredded so it melts around the meat better.

Enjoy!
