CANDIED POPCORN

8 cups popped corn
1/4 cup margarine
3 tbsp. light corn syrup
1/2 cup light brown sugar or granulated sugar
1 pkg. (4 serving size) cherry Jello (or any other flavor Jello)

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Line a jelly roll pan (cookie sheet with sides) with aluminum foil.

Put popped corn in large bowl.

Heat margarine and syrup over low heat. Stir in brown sugar and jello. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce to low heat and gently simmer 5 minutes.

Pour immediately over popped corn, tossing to coat well. Spread on aluminum foil lined cookie sheet or jelly roll pan using 2 forks to spread evenly.

Bake at 300 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool. Break into small pieces.

Hi Ginny,

I hope someone will have the exact recipe you're looking for. In the meantime, here's a recipe that you can experiment with. There's a good chance that the mixture used to candy the mixed nuts is very similar to the one used in this recipe. I would make the full sugar mixture but start the experiment by just using some of it to coat 1 or 2 cups nuts.

Happy Holiday Cooking!

Betsy
