This recipe is really close to my heart, Losing my Mom September 15th 2001, I just now was able to go through her belongings, I found this recipe that she had for years, A note was attached to it that brought tears to my eyes, It said,"My son Johnney's favorite." She would make this for me all the time.

JOHNNEY CORNBREAD

1 package "Jiffy" yellow cake mix (1 layer size)
1 cup yellow cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
1/4 cup melted butter
1 egg

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Greased two (8-inch) pie pans or one (13x9x2-inch) baking pan.

Mix cake mix according to directions, being careful not to beat air into mixture; set aside.

In a seperate bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients and gently fold in cake batter. Pour into prepared pan(s).

Bake in a preheated oven 35-40 minutes or until lightly browned.
