I make this recipe for almost all the holidays. The family complains if I don't. I got this recipe at a work function from my boss. So easy and so good!! Here it is:

BOURBON HOT DOGS

Combine in a medium-sized pan (larger if you make three recipes at a time like I do)...

1/2 cup catsup
1/3 cup bourbon, water or low sodium chicken stock*
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 small chopped onion

Add to above mixture:
1 (1 lb) Package of hot dogs, each hot dog cut into siz pieces... or use Lil Smokies**
(Meat may be mild or hot. If using Lil Smokies, I don't cut them.)

Simmer the hot dogs. I start out at medium heat and then turn it down to a simmer if I see it starting to boil. Cook until the liquid has reduced and the meat is glazed (to taste).

*I have read that some alcohol will not burn off in the cooking process. If wanted, substitute another liquid shown in the list above. Chicken stock tastes great also.

**I prefer hot dogs. They plump and absorb more of the liquid when cooking. Smokies are good, too.

This can be an elegant appetizer and great tasting. I sometimes slide them on a toothpick with a chuck of pineapple and a chunk of pepper jack or other cheese. Or..just put them in a pretty dish with toothpicks next to it for them to pick with.

Hope this helps. God Bless You for cooking for 12 fussy women...
