STRAWBERRY COOKIES
1 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 stick (1/2 cup) melted butter 1/2 cup dates, chopped fine 1/2 cup flour 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal 1 cup walnuts, chopped 1 tsp. vanilla pinch of salt red colored sugar (or strawberry Jello, dry) green decorator icing (for leaves)
Beat sugar and eggs together; set aside.
Melt butter in large skillet. Add dates, eggs and sugar; cook for 5 minutes.
Turn heat to low, gradually stir in flour; cook, while stirring, until thick.
Remove from heat and add Rice Krispies, walnuts, vanilla, and salt. Mix well over low heat. (Remove from heat and set aside until mixture is cool enough to be handled but not too cold to shape.)
Shape into strawberries. Roll in red sugar while warm and place on cookie sheet and set aside to cool.
When cool add leaves with green decorator icing in a tube.
