I am orginally from Muscatine, Iowa where the Griese brothers started the Maid-rite sandwiches. I know for a fact that it is A&W rootbeer that is used in the sandwiches instead of beer. I have seen them mix the rootbeer several times as I was sitting there. Also, my Mom used to work there and she said that is what was used in the sandwiches.
