I don't why this got me so interested, but i still used boiled dressing for chicken salad and potato salad.
this is my favorite. i could not find it earlier. this is from the SOUTHERN JUNIOR LEAGUE COOKBOOK that was owned by my Grandma
3 tbls sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp prepared mustard - i use 1/2 tsp dry
1 1/2 tbls flour
1 egg beaten
3/4 cup milk
4 tbls vinegar
1 tbls butter
Blend first seven ingredients in the order given. Cook over hot water, stirring constantly, until thickened. Add butter and blend well. Cool and use.
I like the milk in this one and have used it for 20 years or more. I am so used to just throwing it together and have not looked at the actual recipe for some time.
