Dear David,

Love those stories, take me back so far I jes don want to return. My Great Grandmama lived through the Civil War, too. She died not long before I was born, so I never met her. From the stories I've heard down through the years, she was a pistol!

Homemade ice cream -- mmmmm! Doesn't get any better than that! All of us children used to crank away for what seems like hours just for a "taste" of Grandmama's special vanilla ice cream. So rich and creamy and thick that it jes spoiled me forever!

Those skys must have been glorious to see! Have seen them on the television, but never personally myself.

Loved the recipe and will give it a try, but make bread pudding just about every weekend for breakfast. I usually make my own tea bread on Thursday evening, then make the pudding Friday night (gives it some time to jes settle down and act friendly).

Keep writin down Granny Church and your Momma's oral history; it's powerful memories like these that are much needed for the handing down!

Bright Blessings!
