Dear Kathy; Thank you for the wonderful note you sent to me on the TKL. I live in Orange County, Virginia, and the Waltons lived in Nelson County, just a ways off of another mountain. Now, I have been to there homeplace many times, but only for a social visit, and dont know the family personally. The Walton family I think went in these parts as another name. The writer of the stories was Earl Hammner Jr., he was John Boy in the series. The movie called "Spencers Mountain" was based on there lives on the mountain, and was written by him. I believe that later in years he went on to create "The Waltons" in a story that was produced and aired on T.V. as "The Homecomeing". I have no affiliation with them, nor do my little stories of my life here. However, I am sure that Earl Hammner would agree, it makes no nevermind to nothin! Southerners just are raised with an ability for talk that is very discriptive, to say the least. It's not a gift as I've been told, it's a special way of expressing ones self to others. I just download my memories, then put my fingers to the keyboard of my computer, and then dream on... What comes out is just what it was... But my, am amazed at the wonderful people who want to share their love of my families past, along with those recipes. My email address is DvdnVa40@aol.com I posted this on a TKL posting, and the responses have been overwhelming to say the least. But, I love the interest that people have on these things, and I will eventually answer every single one of them. And always in true Southern fashion! Anyway, I will go on ahead and send this to you and again, thank you for the response you sent me. Being noticed is the most flattering thing in the world, and for that I say a big "Thank You", but, it's nothing much it's just the past. My goodness, there's another fire fly in my room, I wonder if I shoud throw the beast out? No, I think not, it might inspire me for another story.
Peace To You, My Friend! David In Virginia
