Dear David,

Your recipe takes me way back. Summertime, elders' annual get-togethers (never called "birthday" celebrations; might imply they were gettin' on), angel food cakes so light as to float away covered with 7-minute frosting and home made shredded coconut and just made vanilla ice cream and crispy fried chicken (and a pack of sticky, drippy, greasy kids), and iced tea with a big ol' chunka fresh lemon, so sweet you'd be engertic for days!.

Now, Momma surely never made her green tomatoes ("Swedish Tomatoes" as she called them, and who knows where this name came from) this way. If she had, perhaps I would have developed a preference a lot sooner.

Hmmmm, now I'm fixin' to go out and get me some . . . thanks so much for posting this, darlin' . . . now, how're you on beaten biscuits?
