Did you know your recipe is a variation on a middle eastern dish type of kifta? Interestingly enough, the Time-Life version I have been using for nearly 30 years called for a bed of either ground beef or lamb, covered with freshly sliced tomatoes and covered with slices of lightly boiled potatoes. A small can of either regular or spicy tomato juice (only for the strong!) is poured over all and the meatloaf is baked. Finished product is incredibly moist, flavorful and disappears in a flash whenever I have the time to bake it. Glad to know there is yet another version of this dish.
