Sand Tarts

1/2 cup butter
1 cu sugar
1 egg -- beaten
2 cu sifted cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
***Toppiing***
1 egg white
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup halved blanched almonds
Creeam butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and ix thoroughly. Sift =
dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Chill dough. Roll =
out 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut into circles, brush =
tops with egg white and sprinkle with mixture of sugar and cinnamon. =
Press half of a blanched almond into center of each. Bake in moderate =
oven (375 degrees F) 10 to 12 minutes.
Maeks about 5 dozen (2 1/2 inch) cookies.
