I use the same measurements as you and mine always turns out great! If you are used to using Uncle Ben's, which is a "converted rice" then jasmine rice would be softer. Converted rice is a firmer type of rice. This is why it holds it shape and it is great to use in things like casseroles. Maybe you could try to cook it for a bit less time and see if that helps.
