This is my first time to post anything anywhere, but David's story of the Green Beens put me in mind of the true heart of good cooking. I believe as does David that really good cooking is made of the memories to include the smells of food being cooked over a period of time. I can remember the green beens, the peaches and pears as we made butters and preserves. Now as I try to duplicate the tastes (I said I would never can or preserve another piece of food when I left the farm), I realize that it is the love, memories and smells of the very food itself that makes the taste. Thanks. Oh, yes, I grew up on a farm in Southwestern Oklahoma.
