I always looked forward to going to my Aunt Bessie's house for a meal, because I knew she would have these great rolls. Of course, she had her own homemade jam, too! These can either be shaped into crescent rolls, or made into regular dinner rolls or cinnamon rolls or sandwich buns or whatever!

Aunt Bessie's Rolls

2 c. milk, warmed, but not too hot
1 c. shortening (I use half crisco and half real butter)
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. warm water
6 eggs
9 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Beat shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat well. Add yeast mixture and warmed milk. Stir in flour and knead until smooth and elastic. Let rise until double. Punch down and shape into rolls of your choice. (I prefer crescent rolls, if I have time.) Let rise to double again. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees or until golden. This makes a LOT of rolls, but can easily be cut in half.
