1 tablespoon butter 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon bicarb-soda 1 1/2 cups chopped dates 1/2 cup chopped walnuts 1 cup boiling water 1 beaten egg 2 cups SR flour
Grease two loaf tins. Heat oven to 180c. Place butter, sugar, soda, dates and nuts in basin. Add boiling water and stir until butter has melted. Leave to cool. When cool, add egg and flour, mix in well. Spoon into tin's. Bake for 1 hour. |
