Date Torte

Filling:
2 cups dates
1 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
Combine in saucepan and boil until thick. Cool

Mix together:
1 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine
1 tsp. baking soda

Pat half of the oatmeal mixture in a 9 x13 inch pan; press.

Spread on cooled date filling. Cover with remaining oat mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
