Caramel Dumplings
1 cup sugar 2 cups boiling water 1/2 cup sugar 1 Tbsp. butter
Melt 1 cup sugar in frying pan, stirring until melted and light brown in color; add 2 cups boiling water and stir until sugar is dissolved, then add 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon butter. Bring to boiling point. Drop dumplings by tablespoon into boiling syrup. Cover and let cook until dumplings are done. Serve with whipped or plain cream.
Dumplings For Caramel Dumplings: 1 Tbsp. butter pinch of salt 1/2 cup sugar 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup milk 1 cup flour 1/4 tsp. vanilla
Cream butter and sugar; mix salt, baking powder and flour together. Add alternately with milk to creamed mixture. Add more flour to make stiff batter. |
