BREAD FRITTERS
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter 1 small loaf white bread, thinly sliced or cubed 6 oz. milk 4 eggs Dash of salt
In frying pan, melt butter. Fry the bread until golden.
Mix eggs, milk, and salt as for scrambled eggs. Pour mixture over the bread and keep turning slices in pan until all liquid has been absorbed.
The recipe suggests serving these with a salad.

Hi Karen,
I just thought I'd post this but it probably isn't the one - could the recipe you're looking for be as simple as just dipping slices of bread in melted butter and frying it or are there other ingredients in it?
