GOLD CAKE
3/4 cup shortening 1 1/2 cups sugar 3/4 cup milk 8 to 12 egg yolks 1/4 tsp. salt 2 1/2 cups flour sifted 3 or 4 times with 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla
Mix this in order given beating after each addition. This makes 3 (8 inch) layers (grease and lightly flour pans).
Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees F) 25 minutes.
