BEST 0' BURGERS1 lb. ground lean beef
1/2 cup finely cut onion
1 envelope dried beef noodle soup mix
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup cut-up green bell pepper
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar
6-8 toasted sandwich buns (for serving)
Brown beef over medium heat in a 10-inch skillet. Drain off drippings.
Stir in dry soup mix, tomato sauce, bell pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Cover. Cook over low heat 10 to 15 minutes, stirring now and then, or until noodles in soup are tender.
Mix evaporated milk and lemon juice or vinegar together gently. Let stand to thicken, about 5 minutes.
Stir thickened milk mixture into meat mixture. Heat until steaming. Do not boil.
To serve, spoon beef mixture over bottoms of toasted sandwich buns; cover with tops.
Makes 6-8 servings
