Marilyn,
Thank you for your response. Someone at another forum gave me some guidelines to follow yesterday, so I tried it out (the guidelines were drying over a 10-12 hour period at 120 deg F) I didn't have that time frame to work in, so I sliced them a little thinner and dried them at 140 deg F for approx 6 hours. They turned out crisp and delicious. My two kids didn't like them, but my husband and I do, so we get to munch on them. I have a day off so I think I am going to do a bunch more tomorrow. Now I can't wait for my tomatoes to ripen so I can dry tomatoes, too.
We just got our American Harvest Gardenmaster dehydrator for Christmas last year, so everything is still new and exciting. I looked through our manual several times and found nothing on cucumbers (so I had to hit the Internet bright and early yesterday!!!) What AH model do you have? We have found our investment has been well worth it.
I have Mary Bell's Complete Dehydrator Cookbook -- it has been my main source of dehydrator help over the past few months. I purchased it, after I had exhausted my searches on the Internet. Now I have a binder of information from the 'net and my Mary Bell's .... When I can't find the answers I am looking for there, then I hit the forums now.
Again, thank you.... /Mary Ann (Swift Current, Saskatchewan CANADA) |
