Hi Jeff,
My father used to make cashew butter in a food processor for pennies. Here is what he did:
1 to 2 cups of raw cashews, toasted in a dry skillet, cool completely
1 to 2 Tablespoons veg. oil
pinch of salt
Place the "S" shaped blade in the processor and with it running slowly pour the toasted nuts down the shute. You will have a fine ground meal/powder at this time. With the machine still running slowly drizzle in the oil. You have enough oil when the dry meal/powder mass forms a ball. Its very similar to what happens when making cream puff dough. When you have the nut butter at this stage its ready be salted and stored in the fridge.

Enjoy, Julie
