I'm not much for a 'set' of pans - tho I've had several over the years. I still use several LeCreuset ones (sort of a large deep dutch oven and an au gratin pan) that are over 35 years old! And 2 of my kids still use the LeCreuset skillets I passed on to them one day when I wasn't thinking! In the last 5 years I've gotten 3 or 4 All Clad pans - 5 or 6 qt and a saute pan and another. I LOVE these tho they are expensive. I also still use a Revere ware saucepan that was a wedding gift about 37 years ago - it's in good shape! Love - and use often - my Joyce Chen wok type pan -- this is the type that has a bit of flat bottom so it fits easily on electric or gas burners. We use a round (heavy) griddle often - and also a 'grill pan' - Circulon? I think. But many companies make them. My 'pasta' cooker is one I got at a kitchen supply store (for restaurants, etc.) -- and it was inexpensive and has lasted thru the years.
Consumers report mentioned one of Penney's sets as being in the top 3 or 4 - when they did a report a couple of years ago - you might check. Price was very reasonable.
Try to think about what sizes you will use and what you will use them for. For example, I usually cook veggies in the microwave -- or oven roast -- or grill. So a 2-quart saucepan is not used often. But it's still neat to have. I have a friend who uses hers every day.
Good luck - have a good sale -- and then get what you want! And enjoy. |
