My absolute favorite pans are Ultrex from the Home Shopping Network. They are designed by a man that makes cookware for very expensive cookware companies.The beauty of Ultrex is that it is expensive cook ware that is not expensive. Home Shopping asked this man (Art Krull) to make them a line of cookware exclusively for them and add all the very best features that he liked best. He came up with Ultrex. It is stainless steel cookware with a very large (covers entire bottom of pans) stainless steel covered aluminum disc. This disc conducts heat so well that you don't have to use high heat. It cooks so evenly that even around the edge of the pans cooks the same as the center. You don't have to shift food around to get everything done at once. Clear glass lids that are tempered and very nice handles that you can use two hands to lift with if necessary. It is non stick (excaliber coating) that has a 55 year warranty. Yes, I said 55 years. It is several layers of the best non-stick there is baked into the pan so that it will not scratch through, chip or peel off. You can scratch it but another layer of the coating will always be underneath. As a matter of fact when the demonstrate it on tv he uses a sander to scratch it. I know it sounds like a fake but it isn't. He's used a screwdriver to scratch hsi initials on a skillet and then uses that skillet to cook with. Nothing sticks and it's guaranteed not to for at least 55 years. If you can get Home Shopping on cable where you live I suggest you watch for this. He's usually on Saturdays around noon. Or call 1-800-284-2900 and ask about Ultrex. They sell a lot of this stuff I know I've been long-winded but I love this stuff and I wanted to tell you about all the features that I could. Now the price: I got a 10 piece set(a 12" covered saute pan, a 10" skillet, 8" skillet 1 Qt. saucepan, 1 qt. saucepan, and a covered dutch oven.) for 130.00. They also have 8 piece set and do have some open stock also. If you have any questions please feel free to sak me.
