I don't know what the difference between these two are. My husbands aunt who was Swiss used both terms and taught me how to make the cookies. Her recipe is:

2 cups butter
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
1 Tbs. vanilla
6 1/2 - 7 cups flour
1 tsp. salt

She just blended these ingredients together really thoroughly. I have an electric Jura Brazeli iron and 1/2 tsp of dough works just right for each cookie. I make these every Christmas and it is about time to think of getting it done. I have a recipe from a magazine (I think it was Good Housekeeping) from years ago for Maple Pizzelles if you would like it.
