Debbie - happy to find someone else who microwaves rice. I've been doing it since the the late 70's or early 80s -when I got a microwave with an 'auto sensor'. I'd tried it before - with high and then medium but ...sometimes it worked better than others. I just put my water or broth, rice and seasonings in and put the cover on the dish and set '4' on the sensor - and away it goes. Still takes about the same amount of time as on the range, but 'perfect every time' and no worrying about burning/sticking.
I too often make a double batch and refrigerate or freeze the remainder for later.
