Do you mean the electric sandwich maker that closes like a waffle iron with space for about 2 slices of bread side by side?

If so, the ones we purchased long, long ago when our kids were off to college and to use when traveling -- had very little in the way of recipes.

We used to put the bread in (buttered on the outside) and fill with whatever .... tuna/cheese mix; ham mix; or slices of pepperoni/ham/cheese .... and then top with 2 more slices of bread and toast til done. We used them a lot with 'leftovers' - sloopy joe mix; meat loaf cut up/crumbled and mixed with some BBQ sauce, etc. Often we'd stick some cheese in.

For 'dessert' you could put some canned pie filling in the center - not too much or it really oozed out. And then when done sprinkle with powdered sugar or serve with ice cream.

The kids, at college, would do 'eggs' - drop one into center of each bread slice (they said don't buy extra-large or large - get small or medium!) Sometimes they'd stick in bacon bits or something. and they'd have an 'egg sandwich'.

I really don't know any times for any of these ... and I'm sure there are a zillion other things you can do with them. I seem to remember that you could break each sandwich into half or quarters if you wanted them as snacks.

I've never seen a recipe book with these. I don't even think we have ours any more.
