Ok, so I have this fuzzy logic rice cooker I picked up at a garage sale for $8C, and there was no manual. So the finer points of using it were beyond me until yesterday, when I located the manual on the net.

Turns out it is supposed to have a steamer basket, too. I think I should take it back (not!!). I purchased the cooker in new condition (I think she said she used it once), and the price in the stores at at that time (about 4 years ago?) was $130C. So I totally scored. It cooks rice, "slow cooks" (soups, risotto, applesauce, porridge), steams and also has a "quick rice" setting...who knew?

Anyway, Betsy posted the directions for applesauce and variations. Having recently had the opportunity to view the contents of my freezer in its totality, I am working my way thru some of the things that definitely need to be used up!

I just want to say how good the applesauce with rhubarb is! It worked fine in the rice cooker, and today I will use some of it to make applesauce bread (in my breadmaker, of course).

If it turn out well, I will post the recipe on the baking board.

Have a great day, everyone!

Carolyn!
