ICE MILK

"Here's one of the recipes from the book that I've had the best luck with: I've used this as the basis for experiments. My mom said this tastes like the old fashioned vanilla ice cream she used to get when *she* was a child."

1 egg (pasteurized)
2/3 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups milk (I use skim)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (the book left this out)

Mix egg and sugar. Add milk and vanilla. Chill in refrigerator until time to make ice cream.

Pour mixture in ice cream churn and turn the handle a couple of times every minute or two until ice mil is ready (about 20-25 minutes).

VARIATIONS:

LEMON ICE MILK:
Substitute lemon extract for the vanilla.

BANANA ICE MILK:
Puree one or two bananas and add to the ice cream mixture.

PEACH ICE MILK:
Puree one good-sized peach and add to the ice cream mixture. Don't put more than 3 cups of mixture in the ice cream churn, though, so you'll have a little left over for making ice milk another day!
