Yes Debbie, I am from the South...Montgomery, AL.

Here is the recipe for the meatloaf. This takes a little extra work, but it is well worth it. This is the only way anyone in my family will eat meatloaf now!

1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 small can tomato paste
1/3 c. water
1/2 c. oats
1 egg
1/4 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. chopped bell pepper
salt & pepper to taste
1 pkg. Lipton Onion Soup Mix

Sauce:

1 Tbsp. oleo
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 1/2 Tbsp. Worchestershire
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 c. water
1/3 c. ketchup
1/2 onion, finely chopped

Combine ingredients for sauce and simmer 5-10 minutes. Mix all ingredients for meat loaf together, shape into loaves & place in baking dish. Brush with sauce. Continue basting with sauce while baking until all sauce has been used. Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour or until done.

I like to make 2 smaller oblong loaves & place red new potatoes around them while baking.

The meatloaf freezes well, but I would wait to make the sauce until you are ready to cook the meatloaf.
