This recipe is supposedly for Devil Dog cream filling but it tastes just like a Hostess Cupcake cream filling also. Hope it works for you.
1/4 cup melted butter Add 3 tablespoons of flour Stir to paste
Add 3/4 cup milk Cook until thick. It will turn thick like pudding.
Make sure it is cool before adding 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup Crisco 1 1/2 tsp vanilla Beat with egg beater until creamy.
Note: By itself, this wasn't all that sweet tasting but put between 2 devil's food cake layers and frosting, it worked out great. Received many compliments.
