ARTHUR TREACHER'S HUSH PUPPIES

oil for frying
2 1/4 cups biscuit mix
2/3 cup club soda
3 tbsp. dry minced onion
1 tbsp. cornmeal
1 tsp. onion powder

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

In a heavy saucepan or deep fryer heat oil, at least 3 inches deep, to 425 degrees F.

Mix all ingredients for the hush puppies together and shape into 1 inch balls. Drop puppies a few at a time into hot oil. Fry and turn until evenly browned (4 minutes).

Drain and keep warm on cookie sheet in 300 degree F oven until all have been fried.
