I purchase cinnamon oil at Walmart. It is ususally in the pharmacy and you have to ask for it...guessing folks steal it as it is in a small bottle. A 1 OZ bottle costs me about $4.00 at Walmart and will do many toothpicks. Most old style drug stores also keep cinnamon oil.

I soak mine for a long time as I like them hot. I either use them right out of the bottle or sometimes let them dry out on a paper towel. How hot you like them depends how long to let them soak in the oil. Mine are so hot that they will leave welts on the inside of your mouth. Excessive! I had some I soaked for a year or more and they were HOT!

I use plastic pill bottles that have not had any serious strength drugs in them. I wash the bottles out throughly first. Reuse the oil as others have suggested.

Further note: a company still makes the hot cinnamon toothpicks: Harmon's of Nebraska. I have tried them before and they are good, but not hot enough to me. They come in small packs of 25 or so hot toothpicks.
